Stay healthy

I’ve never liked getting sick, and I bet most people would agree with me when I say getting sick is never fun. Getting sick when I didn’t have a baby is one thing, but getting sick when we have to take care of James is a whole new different ballgame.

I recently got a combination of the flu and sore throat, which is annoying by itself. This caused me to cough incessantly throughout the night. It became a big problem because James was room sharing with us. When I coughed in the middle of the night, it woke up him up and he was unable to go back to sleep. This in turn made me even more sick since we had to get up and rock him and calm him down, which led to less sleep overall. Without enough sleep, I then even got more sick which then became a vicious cycle.

After the second night of this, we decided that I should sleep outside. This helped us both, even though it felt a bit weird at first. Not only was James able to sleep without my cough waking him up, I was able to sleep without him waking me up.

Get healthy

This got me thinking; how do I get healthy? There are a lot of blog posts and articles already on how to become healthy. I think the main takeways from all those posts is that I need to eat healthy, exercise, get out in the sun, and have a good social life. Whilst most people understand that eating, exercising, and being outside can help you get healthy, having a social life is sometimes not counted.

With that in mind, I’m going to try to get out more often, join activities and meet up with my friends more.
